Naval computer network hacked, no system compromised: government

Visakhapatnam-based Eastern Naval Command’s computer network was attacked by hackers in November last year, but none of the systems were found compromised, the government told Rajya Sabha today.

“Only one case of attempted hacking into defense sector computers has been reported in the past three years. Intelligence reports were reported in November 2011 on the probable compromise of Eastern Naval Command computers. based in Visakhapatnam, ”Defense Minister AK Antony said. in a written response.

“However, none of these computers were found to be compromised. The defense services have put in place a robust defense mechanism,” he said.

To protect critical information infrastructures, he said, “Article 70-A of the 2008 Information Technology (Amendment) Act envisages the establishment of a National Center for the Protection of Infrastructures. Information Critical Information (NCIIPC) to protect critical information infrastructures in identified sectors. “

Steps have been taken to notify the NCIIPC under the said law, he said.
