By Lauren Berg (March 1, 2022, 11:05 PM EST) – A federal judge in Virginia on Tuesday declined to disqualify Ropes & Gray LLP from representing cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks Inc. as it defends itself against a lawsuit the accusing it of infringing a computer network patents held by its competitor Centripetal Networks Inc.
U.S. District Judge Roderick C. Young rejected Centripetal’s offer to disqualify Ropes & Gray based on Centripetal’s claim that the law firm possesses the company’s confidential information from a prior transaction separate claiming that there is no suggestion that Centripetal and Ropes & Gray had an attorney-client relationship.
